Performing in the gallery
John’s been out and about quite a bit in his Jazz Suit over the years, but this is the first time it’s been in a gallery. The piece has been part of a themed group show – ‘Locality’ – at DOK gallery in Leith, Edinburgh, and John’s been doing some performances in and around the gallery.
The gallery’s in a steel building (amazing acoustics) and it sits right on Leith docks. An all round great space! If you look closely, you’ll see there’s an Anthony Gormley on the end of that wooden pier.
John performed at the private view. The sounds of the trumpet mixed-in nicely with the chatter, with the whole soundscape resonating around the steel building.
